One of my favorite things to do every summer is cop a squat in Barnsdall Park with friends, wine and Trader Joes goodies and enjoy an exceptional performance by the Independent Shakespeare Company. In previous years I have seen a very strong Macbeth and a hysterical Twelfth Night. This year the company is running Henry V and The Tempest so I got a group of friends together this past weekend and got to know Henry V a little better. It is an absolutely delightful experience to spend a nice summer evening on the grass with a picnic, an alcoholic beverage and a little LA culture, ISC consistently delivers extraordinary Shakespeare. Did I mention it is free (suggested donation of $10 for adults and $5 of kids)? You can email the box office and make a reservation which allows you to enter the outdoor theater at 6pm, claim your part of the lawn and set up your picnic. After 7pm the place is open to anyone who didn’t think ahead and make a reservation.Final Word: Don't forget the bottle opener!
